ABOUT
STATEMENT

My focus when creating glasswork is to capture and play with light. I like to use molecule-like structures and smooth formations to bend and refract the light. My inspiration comes from observing light reflected through bodies of water, most notably the Pacific Ocean and Rocky Mountain lakes and streams.

WHAT I'VE DONE

I  began working with glass at the University of California San Diego Craft Center. I have taken several intensive glass and sculpture workshops at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina. My formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Design from Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

WHAT I DO

Flameworking is the glassmaking technique I use to form objects by melting glass rods and tubes with a torch. I use borosilicate glass because it is stronger and more durable than conventional glass and it lends itself well to the sculptural forms I create. My work is typically organic in shape and reflects the natural elements.
